Heston 5530- So many versions of this baler were made over the years- and think they still make one very similar- Has been made under the heston, new idea, and massey ferguson names. Makes up to a 54" diameter bale, 39" wide- up to around 550lbs. Makes for a relatively small bale thats easy to handle and doesn't take a big tractor to run. Recommended for 30-60 pto hp. Unit weighs 2565lbs. Manual tie, you have to pull a rope for string application. This baler is simple all around, but is not a fast/high capacity baler. they like to start a bale started very slowly so they don't plug, and you can't run them like you stole them. Paying attention is a must! That being said, they are pretty cheap to own and run, and make a bale thats easy to handle with a fair compact tractor. Great for a small operation, with say half a doze to a dozen animals. Beyond that, you'll wish you had something bigger or faster. This unit was on the same small hobby farm for many years and was stored indoors till just a couple days ago. It hasn't been used in a few years. Tires are weathered but hold air. Belts look good. Great way to make hay on a budget for a small operation. First $3000 steals it this fall!!! Try finding a decent baler for 3k in the spring!!! Unit is right out of storage, you will want to test run it before you put 30 acres down, but comes from a good friend, has always been a reliable baler for them.
